Con este articulo me gustaría iniciar una pequeña trilogía dedicada al mundo de las artes romaníes.
Son tantas cosas las que se pueden contar, que necesitaría meses para hablar de lo que esto conlleva.
Músicos, cantantes, compositores, intérpretes, actores, escritores…
La tradición romaní siempre ha estado presente en las artes de la humanidad, los más famosos autores, pintores y artistas de la historia siempre han tenido un hueco para acordarse de los Rroma.
Pero en esta ocasión, quiero que los rroma sean los protagonistas, que se hable de nosotros en primera persona, por eso, aquí comienza una serie de artículos dedicados a los grandes artistas romaníes clasificados en la música, el cine y la literatura.
Con una mezcolanza milenaria, con la riqueza de todos los países por los que pasaron, los gitanos trajeron a Europa una nueva forma de entender el arte y en especial la música.
Para no remontarnos tantos siglos, empezaremos con grandes genios de la música clásica inspirados, influenciados, embrujados, por el arte gitano.
Sin ir más lejos, una de las piezas más sublimes de Johannes Brahms son las danzas húngaras.
Pero esta música no era suya, sino de un gitano amigo del compositor que fue quien creó esta pieza. De hecho, este gitano denunció a Brahms y un juez le dio la razón, pero el gitano le cedió finalmente la autoría de su obra al compositor alemán.
Y otros grandes como Schubert o Listz estuvieron influenciados por los gitanos, y afirmaban que los violines sonaban mejor si los tocaba un rrom…
Quizás esos artistas pasaron a la historia como anónimos, pero su sentimiento a la hora de imaginar música, permanecerá eterno.
Si nos remontamos a épocas más presentes, nos encontramos con Django Reinhardt, el genial músico belga, que fascinó al mundo entero con su jazz, y su manera de interpretar, adaptando a ese estilo musical sus influencias de los rrom manouche. Pero me gustaría hacer mas hincapié en la música “cantada”, y como este blog está dedicado a la lengua romaní, quiero hablaros de varios grupos y artistas gitanos que hay por Europa (y por el mundo entero) actualmente y que nos acercan su música contemporánea cantada en una lengua milenaria. Os abro una nueva unidad dedicada a videos y letras de canciones en rromanès que la podréis encontrar en la etiqueta superior titulada “Rromani Multimedia”
“Alexian” Santino Spinelli 
Santino Spinelli es un artista gitano italiano aunque yo lo rebautizaría como un “poli rom”, porque este gitano hace de todo. Es músico, compositor, cantante, maestro, poeta, ensayista. También es presidente de la asociación gitana italiana “Them Romano” y ha sido el primer gitano (creo que de Europa) “laureado” doblemente en Lengua Extranjera y Literatura Moderna y otra en Musicología por la Universidad de Bolonia. También da clases en la Universidad de Trieste sobre cultura y lengua romaní. Como podreis ver es un gitano digno de admiración. Además el propio Santino ha sido quien ha facilitado a este blog las letras de las canciones que están publicadas en la sección “Rromani Multimedia”. Sin duda alguna, un gran artista y un gran gitano, no dejeis de visitar su página web, http://www.alexian.it donde podreis escuchar alguna de sus canciones, también en Youtube encontrareis material sobre el. Ah, por cierto!! También es un gran hincha del AC Milan!! Verdad hermano….?
Ševćet
Un artista que a mi personalmente me gusta mucho la música que hace, aunque poco os puedo hablar de el, ya que no conozco bien su historia, ni siquiera estoy seguro de que sea serbio.
Pero no cabe duda de que Ševćet es uno de los artistas gitano mas influyentes en los países de la Europa del Este, yo conocí su música en FERYP, y le diré a mi “phrala” Elez, que me hable más de el. Mientras tanto, en la sección “Rromani Multimedia” os dejo un par de canciones bastante buenas. Una es una actuación en directo, no se si en una boda o en una fiesta; el titulo: “hajde samo panz minutja” (ven aquí solo cinco minutos).
La otra canción titulada “magiq”, la canta con una artista búlgara llamada Bony de la que no se mucho. Más adelante, cuando recopile más información, también os hablaré de otro artista gitano búlgaro llamado “Azis”, del que podréis encontrar bastantes cosas en youtube de este “peculiar” artista.
Gogol Bordello
Posiblemente, a casi todos os sonará un grupo llamado “Gogol Bordello” el grupo de “Gipsy Punk” neoyorquino que todos conocimos un poco más cuando cantaron con Madonna una canción en rromanès en un concierto del Live Earth. que podeis ver en la sección “Rromani Multimedia” .
Hoy es una de las bandas mas veneradas en Estados Unidos, y este músico de origen ucraniano llamado Eugene Hütz a cautivado hasta la mismísima Madonna hasta el punto de que la cantante a dirigido recientemente una película titulada ‘Filth and Wisdom’ (suciedad y sabiduría) Una ácida comedia sobre tres gitanos ucranianos que luchan en Estados Unidos por cumplir su sueño de sacar adelante su banda de ‘gipsy punk’. Sobre esta película hablaré más adelante cuando lleguemos al cine romaní. En la sección “Rromani Multimedia” podreis ver una actuación en directo de Gogol Bordello cantando la canción “Baro Foro”. A pesar de su éxito, Eugene nunca se ha olvidado de sus origenes y siempre ha ensalzado su condición de gitano y su relación con los rroma. En su página web www.gogolbordello.com tiene una sección llamada “Hutz in Gypsy Camps” donde tiene un montón de fotos en campamentos gitanos.
Terne Čhave
Otro de los grupos que está sonando con mucha fuerza son los checos “Terne Čhave” que hace un mes presentaron en Praga su último disco “more love”.
Esta banda gitana checa, lleva años dando conciertos por centro Europa y haciendo bailar a miles de personas con su canciones cantadas en rromanès en sus conciertos con su peculiar estilo de rock’n'roll, o como a ellos les gusta definir su estilo musical: el rom’n’roll.
El ambiguo titulo de su último disco “more love” que en inglés significa “más amor” en rromanès significa “mi dinero”, nos muestra como se define su música, mezcla de violines y guitarras eléctricas, entrelazando danzas y ritmos espirituales junto con tradicionales canciones romaníes con el rock mas punk actual, sin duda alguna vale la pena oírlos. Romano Drom
Siguiendo por Europa, nos trasladamos hasta Hungría, donde nació el grupo Romano Drom, que se ha convertido en una referencia de la música romanì de este país con un estilo que ha perdurado en el tiempo llamado “Olah”.
Este grupo, fundado por Antal Kovács y su padre, han huido de los tópicos y han ofrecido siempre una energía y calidad interpretativa en sus actuaciones en directo que han sido ya muchos los que han podido disfrutar por toda Europa de sus conciertos en numerosos festivales. Gypsy Caravan es un disco que recopila en el a músicos gitanos de España, Hungría y otras regiones que nos invitan a un misterioso y fascinante viaje musical.

With this article I would like to start a small trilogy devoted to the world of the Rroma arts.
There are so many things that can count, which would require months to talk about what this entails.
Musicians, singers, composers, performers, actors, writers…
The Romany tradition has always been present in the arts of mankind, the most famous authors, painters and artists in history have always had a hole to remember to the rroma.
But on this occasion, I want the rroma are the protagonists, who speak of us in first person, so here begins a series of articles devoted to the great Rroma artists classified in music, film and literature.
With a hodgepodge millennial, with the wealth of all countries through which passed, They brought a new way of understanding the art and especially music.
To not go back many centuries, we will start with great geniuses of classical music inspired, influenced, embrujados, art gypsy.
Without going any further, one of the most sublime pieces of Johannes Brahms are the Hungarian dances.

But I’d like to do more emphasis on music “sung”, and as this blog is dedicated to the Romany language, I speak about many rroma groups and artists that there are in Europe (and the world) and we are currently approaching his music contemporary sung in an ancient tongue. “Alexian” Santino Spinelli
Santino Spinelli is an Italian gypsy artist but I like to call him “poly rom” because this gypsy makes everything. He is a musician, composer, singer, teacher, poet, essayist. It is also president of the Italian association Gypsy “Them Romano” and was the first gypsy (I believe in Europe) doubly” laureatum” in Modern Foreign Language and Literature and another in Musicology by the University of Bolonia. He also teaches at the University of Trieste about Romany language and culture. As you can see is a gypsy worthy of admiration. Ševćet
An artist that to me personally I like the music that he does, though little I can talk about him, because I do not know his history well, I’m not even sure that he is Serbian.
But there is no doubt that Ševćet is one of the most influential artists gypsy in the countries of Eastern Europe, I knew his music in FERYP, and I will ask to my “phrala” Elez, if he can tell about Ševćet. Meanwhile, in “Rromani Multimedia” I leave with you a couple of pretty good songs. One is a live performance, not whether a wedding or a feast; entitled: “Hajde samo Panzer minutja” (come here only five minutes).The other song entitled “magiq”, sings with a Bulgarian artist named Bony, and I not know so much too about her. Later, when I have more information, I also speak of another Bulgarian gypsy artist named “Azis,” which you can find plenty of things on youtube of this “peculiar” artist.
Gogol Bordello
Possibly, everyone knows a group called “Gogol Bordello” group “Gipsy Punk” from New York that everyone knew a little more when they sang a song with Madonna in rromanès in a concert of “Live Earth” that you can see in the section “Rromani Multimedia” .
Actually is one of the most revered bands in the United States, and this musician of Ukrainian origin named Eugene Hütz to captivated until the very Madonna to the point where the singer recently directed a film entitled ‘Filth and Wisdom’. An acidic comedy about three Ukrainian Gypsies in the United States struggling to fulfil his dream of bringing forward its banda ‘gipsy punk’. On this film will speak later when we come to the Romany cinema .
In the section “Rromani Multimedia” you can see a performance of Gogol Bordello singing the song “Baro Foro”. Despite his success, Eugene has never forgotten his origins and has always praised his gypsy condition and its relationship with rroma. Terne Čhave
Another group that is playing with great force are the Czechs “Ternes Čhave” that a month ago in Prague presented his latest record “more love”.
This band Czech gypsy, has spent years giving concerts in central Europe and making thousands of people dancing with their songs sung in rromanès in his concerts with his peculiar style of rock’n'roll, or as they like to define his musical style: the rom’n'roll.
The ambiguous title of his latest record “more love” which in English means “more love” in rromanès means “my money”, shows how defined his music, a mixture of violins and electric guitars, intertwined spiritual dances and rhythms along with traditional Rroma songs, with punk rock most current certainly worth hear them. Romano Drom
In Europe too, we go to Hungary, where born the group “Romano Drom”, which has become a reference for music romanì in this country with a style that has endured over time called “Olah.”
